Awarded the title of "Certified Sommelier"
by the Court of Master Sommeliers and
recipient of the "passed with distinction" honor (tasting) by
the Wine &
Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) for her efforts attaining the Advanced
Level diploma, D'Vari is in the process of completing the WSET 2-year Diploma
program for her DWS credential with intentions of going forward to the
Master of Wine and Master Sommelier credential. D'Vari
also has certification from the prestigious Sommeliers
Society of America, the nation's oldest sommelier certificate course
and U.C. Davis (Winemaking
class via Distance Learning). She has diplomas from the French
Culinary Institute in food/wine pairing under Master Sommelier Andrea Immer
and food journalism under Alan Rich. Now
Contributing Wine & Spirits Editor for Taste
Cincinnati Magazine and "Tastes
Editor" for Blogcritics.org, D'Vari is also a
journalist writing articles for London's FT, Robb Report, Quarterly Review
of Wines, Sante, Ritz-Carlton and scores of other glossy magazines and international
newspapers. She is the author of 5 books translated into four languages
(scroll below). She served as editor for Professional Speaker magazine.
Vice-Chair, programming, of Manhattan's prestigious Wine
Media Guild, D'Vari has written about celebrity chefs, wine, and luxury
travel after leaving the Hollywood Entertainment Industry for Boston's burgeoning
restaurant scene. Earlier in Boston, she produced and hosted the weekly television
program titled A Taste of Luxury featuring luminaries such as the late
Julia Child, Robert Mondavi, Todd English, Daniel Boulud, Charlie Palmer,
Adam Tihany, and others too numerous to mention. During
the same period, she was the restaurant reviewer for the Beacon Hill Paper.
Her column, A Taste of Luxury, was internationally syndicated to
many newspapers and web sites by the Paradigm Syndication Group. Active
in Share our Strength
and program director of Boston's AIWF
(American Institute of Wine & Food) when Julia Child and her assistant
Stephanie Hersh were at the helm, D'Vari came to know and befriend many of Boston's
most dynamic chefs. Currently, she is active in the New York chapter on the publicity
committee. D'Vari taught a diploma course
at the Cambridge School of Culinary
Arts, served on the board of the Roger
Saunders School of Hotel Management, and also taught classes at Harvard
and Emerson College. She is a member
of the Society of Wine Educators, International Association of Culinary
Professionals, American Sommelier Association, a Fellow at the James
Beard organization, a long standing member of the American Society for
Journalists & Authors, National Speakers Association, and Member
